Mt. Si. // Oh
L.A. trio Mt. Si. have got rumours flying around that they include members of Kisses and RAC, but it barely matters; the airy, slo-mo blossoming pop of ‘Oh’ (and its flipside ‘True’) are special enough to make chat of their originators’ backgrounds feel pretty beside the point.
‘Truth’ in particular is an ethereal dream-pop epic that is strewn with blissful melodies that make you feel momentarily that your day has been drawn out into one immersive journey through pneumatic drums and distant vocals. Unfortunately it ends just under four minutes later, but in that time its pillowy synths and sidesteps into new hooks are enough to persuade you to head straight back to that play button. Don’t say we didn’t warn you when you’ve drifted into a melody induced semi-comatose state in a couple of days time…
